Woodson Family

One of my mom’s dearest friends asked if I could do some family photos. I was more than happy to oblige!! This is the Woodson family. They are amazing friends to my parents, and I am so thankful for them! We did these on a really chilly afternoon. Thanks for being such sports!

We had to try to get a couple with the dogs too! It was hard to even get both of them to sit still long enough to be in the same picture : )

This is Duncan, the newest addition to the family. He’s a sweetie!

…and he’s got a TON of energy! He was obsessed with his flattened ball. It was hilarious to watch the girls play with him.

I am looking forward to taking some more portraits of this wonderful family in the spring when the weather is a little nicer!!

The Boston Family

One of my good friends, Kimberlie, asked me to do a family portrait session for her! Of course, I jumped at the chance! This is not only my friend, she was the first person I encountered at my workplace. She trained me, helped me grow, and was always there to help me. Her family is my family. We all lived together for about two years. She has a precious set of boys, whom I love to death!

Kimberlie’s idea was to take some photos near the Olympic Sculpture Park. What a great location! We did some in the birch trees next door, then headed into the park to see what we could find there.  I LOVE the Space Needle, and the view from the park is just amazing.

This is Earl. He’s got the cutest dimple!

This is George. I love his hair!!

This is one of my favorites.

Giggles, jumping around, and crazy faces made for a really fun session. I’m so glad the weather finally cooperated!

Thanks for the fun evening you guys!!!

Make sure to leave a comment on which photo is your favorite, and help Kimberlie win a free 8×10!

Happy Birthday Mom!

On September 7th, my mom celebrated her 53rd birthday! A few years ago, we did a little photo shoot for her birthday, so we decided to go out for a few minutes and do it again.

There are some beautiful fields near my parents’ home, and the grass is golden! We had a great time stomping around and laughing the whole time.

Isn’t she lovely?

This one’s full of energy…she had to have her “crazy” shot. She said if I’m allowed to have crazy pictures, she is too : )

Mom, you crack me up. Thanks for always acting like you want me to come visit! ; )

I appreciate you!

::Nicole & Kao:: 09.05.2010

Labor Day weekend was AWESOME. I got to photograph the wedding of a friend I’ve known since fourth grade! Nicole and Kao got hitched in Centralia, Washington. We went downtown to take photos of the bridal party. The myriad of textures downtown gets me really excited!! I love brick walls, run-down buildings, and taking pictures that seem out of context. This first photo is one of my favorites so far.

I loved that Nicole and her bridesmaids were totally down to do a jumping shot! We only had to do it twice before we came up with this one! They’re definitely experts…I think I heard them talking about some of their previous attempts at action shots : )

Nicole looked AMAZING, but Kao looked pretty snazzy too.

The church, which was built in the years since I left Centralia, was beautiful. They really did an outstanding job decorating it, and the stained glass was gorgeous.

It was so fun to watch Nicole and Kao throughout the day. You could really see how crazy they are for each other. Watching them dance at the reception…how they interacted with each other…it was so neat. By the way, they are amazing dancers!! You too Jim! Thanks for letting me be there, you guys!

(There could be a second blog in the next few days if I can’t help myself! These pictures are too fun!)

[Mad Rad] Capitol Hill Block Party 07.25.10

Is there a band or musician that you love, though you know you probably shouldn’t?

Mad Rad fills that role in my life.

I bought tickets to all three days of the CHBP this year. I hadn’t been since 2007, when I went and saw the Blood Brothers (RIP), Silversun Pickups…etc. This year had a lot of local bands I wanted to see…and I love Mad Rad shows!!!

The first time I saw them was at Nectar last October. A friend invited me, and I’d heard a little about them, so I figured I would go. When they finally went onstage, it was NOT what I was expecting at all. But I kinda liked it.

I really started to like it….then Datarock started some crap and had them shut down before their set was over. Not cool.

I’ve been to a few shows since then…Showbox, the Croc, CHBP…had a great time at all of them. They played a lot of new stuff at the Block Party.

There’s a new album coming out in October. Can’t wait!

What musical act is your secret pleasure??

[Disclaimer] If you are easily offended by swearing and vulgarities, do not listen to Mad Rad.

Kevin & Mercedes {06.26.10}

Wow, I’m behind on blogging! At the end of June, I got to go to Arlington to photograph a friend’s wedding.  I hadn’t been to Arlington since I was a kid, so it was awesome to drive out there and be reminded how beautiful the countryside is! The wedding was at Magnolia Hall, a cute little building downtown.

This is Mercedes looking amazing in her dress! We ventured out into the heat to find places to photograph, and we settled on this alley : )

She was a trooper, sporting at least 3 inch blue heels! They were her “something blue”.

Dancing with her father…

And then there’s Kevin….with most of the ladies I had the pleasure of spending the pre-wedding portion of the day with! Kevin is hilarious. He’s always cracking jokes and is always in a good mood. I really value that at work, especially when I am super grumpy in the morning!

Kevin and Mercedes have awesome friends and family. It was super fun to hang out and photograph their special day. Everyone was so nice and welcoming. They all looked amazing and were so cooperative!! I wish you both the best and many, many years of happiness!

Vanessa & Justin [Family Photos]

Back in January, I had the pleasure of taking Vanessa’s maternity photos. I was so excited when she contacted me to take some family photos now that their son is three months old! We set up in a friend’s dining room and took advantage of the natural light streaming in the sliding glass doors. Baby J was a little tired, so we only caught one smile, but he was a little trooper!

An adorable little family : )

I just love his chubby cheeks and pouty lips!

Father and son.

Please comment and tell me which one is your favorite! The photo with the most comments will be given to Vanessa and Justin as a free 8×10!

[E-session] Nicole & Kao

About a week ago, Nicole, Kao, and I met at Gasworks Park for their engagement session! I went to school with Nicole from 4th grade through high school. I was so excited when she contacted me about photographing her wedding! It had been a few years since I had seen her, as she went to school on the other side of the state. ARRRR!

Kao and Nicole brought their bikes with them, so we could take some of them doing an activity that has been a big part of their lives. Great idea, Nicole!!! Thankfully, it was a wonderful, warm day.

They are so cute together!

Chillaxin on the hill.

It was so fun to hang out and laugh with Nicole and Kao! I’m glad I finally got to meet you, Kao : ) You two have such fun together, I can tell. Can’t wait to hang out again!

If you’d like to see more from their session, head to their gallery!

Preview: Patty

Sunday morning, I got to do a portrait session with a woman I work with. It was short but sweet : ) This is my favorite image from the shoot.

She’s going down to Cali in a few weeks to visit her mother and wanted to portrait to give her as a Mother’s Day gift. I’m stoked that she thought of me to help her make it happen! Can’t wait to see if she likes them!
